Adaptive Learning: Teaching in Accordance with Students’ Aptitude  

Dr. Fuhua (Oscar) Lin


Short Bio: Dr. Fuhua Lin is a full Professor and Chair of School of Computing and Information Systems of Athabasca University, Canada. Dr. Lin obtained his PhD from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in 1998. Prior to working in Athabasca University, Dr. Lin was a research associte of Institute for Information Technology of National Research Council of Canada. Dr. Lin did post-doc research at University of Calagry. Since joining the faculty at Athabasca University, Prof. Lin has been actively involved in teaching, scholarly research, and service in the field of Computing and Information Systems. He is co-supervising 2 PhD theses and has supervised 30 Master theses in a variety of information systems related topics.

Speaker: Simon Paasche 

 

Brief Bio: Simon Paasche is a researcher in the Automotive Electronics unit at Robert Bosch Elektronik GmbH in Salzgitter. At Bosch, Mr. Paasche is responsible for sustainable and green software development approaches. Together with Prof. Dr. Sven Groppe from the University of Libeck, Mr. Paasche researches on topics related to semantic and non-semantic methods for stream-based data validation and process optimizations in smart manufacturing scenarios. The research concepts are tested on real manufacturing lines in Bosch environment.

Dr. Narayan C. Debnath


Short Bio: Professor Dr. Narayan C. Debnath is currently the Head of the Information Technology at Eastern International University, Vietnam. Dr. Debnath has been the Director of the International Society for Computers and their Applications (ISCA) since 2014, and a member of the ISCA Board of Directors since 2001. Formerly, Dr. Debnath served as a Full Professor of Computer Science at Winona State University, Minnesota, USA for 28 years (1989-2017). He was elected as the Chairperson of the Computer Science Department at Winona State University for 3 consecutive terms and assumed the role of the Chairperson of the Computer Science Department at Winona State University for 7 years (2010-2017). Dr. Debnath earned a Doctor of Science (D.Sc.) degree in Computer Science and also a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Physics. Dr. Debnath has been an active member of the ACM, IEEE Computer Society, Arab Computer Society, and a senior member of the ISCA.

Short Bio: Professor Dmitry Klionskiy is currently working as Associate Professor of the department of Software Engineering and Computer Applications and department of Information Systems of Saint Petersburg Electrotechnical University. His research interests includes digital signal processing, statistics, wavelets, MATLAB, artificial intelligence, data mining, information technologies in education, management education, etc. As deputy dean for international affairs (2014-2020) he took part in various international collaborations and developed the master“s program «Computer Science and Knowledge Discovery» .He has vast experience of teaching Mathematics and Informatics at the Preparatory Department for foreign students at Saint Petersburg Electrotechnical University.

Short Bio: Mario Hyland is known throughout the health IT domain by his twitter handle @interopguy – passionate about interoperability, compliance and conformance to industry recognized standards. Mario is the Senior Vice President and Founder of AEGIS.net, Inc., a CMMI Maturity Level 3 rated, ISO 9001:2008 certified small business and premier provider of Information Technology Consulting Services to Federal Civilian, Defense and Commercial sector clients. AEGIS’ core capabilities include Software Functional and Performance Testing, Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V), Application Design/Development, Project Management, and Organizational Performance/Process Improvement.Mr. Hyland is an active member of the ONC Structured Data Capture (SDC) Initiative and eHealth Initiative – Interoperability Work Group (IWG) focused on discussing and informing members of new trends, best practices, and policy developments in an effort to bring consensus to this next critical aspect of our collective health data infrastructure.

Abstract: Research and Publication ethics are of great importance for researchers across subject domains and experience levels. This workshop aims at familiarizing researchers with the crux of ethical issues with a special focus on concerns related to plagiarism, content reuse and intellectual property rights.


Short Bio: Kamiya Khatter is presently working as Senior Editor at Springer Nature. She is a part of the Global Acquisition Team at Springer, an imprint of Springer Nature. She is responsible for acquisition and publishing of books in Engineering and Applied Sciences portfolio. She has worked in various areas of academic publishing for both books and journals in the past.


Technologies and concepts for the next-generation integrated energy services

Dr. Valentina Janev 

Brief Bio: Dr Valentina Janev is a Senior Researcher at the Mihajlo Pupin Institute, University of Belgrade, Serbia and Associated Professor at the Belgrade Metropolitan University. She graduated in Electrical Engineering from the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia and received the PhD degree in the field of Semantic Web technologies from the University of Belgrade, School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. She has taken part in many research projects funded by the European Commission, team leading in 3 H2020 projects (NEON, PLATOON, SLIDEWIKI), team member and WP/Task leader in 5 FP7 projects (LOD2, EMILI, GEO-KNOW, HELENA, GENDERTIME), 1 CIP/EIP project (SHARE-PSI), 1 FP6 project (Web4WEB), 1 Interreg project (MOVECO), 1 IPA Adriatic (PACINNO), 1 SEE project (FORSEE), 2 COST actions (CA18209, CA19134); and 2 projects funded by the BMBF (NoSQL-Net, CognitiveEng-Net). She published 1 authored book (Semantic Web Tools and Technologies for Competence Management: The Case Study of R&D Organization), 1 edited book (Knowledge Graphs and Big Data Processing) and around 90 papers as journal, book, conference, and workshop contributions in these fields.

Dr. Sushil Kumar Singh

Brief Bio: Dr. Sushil Kumar Singh is an Associate Professor of Computer Engineering at Marwadi University, Rajkot, India. Seoul National University of Science and Technology awarded him a Ph.D. His M.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering was from Uttarakhand Technical University, Dehradun, India. He earned an M.E. in Information Technology from Mysore's Karnataka State University. He led the UCS Lab at Seoul National University of Science and Technology's Computer Science Engineering department. UCS Lab awarded him Best Lab Leadership for 2019-2021. He has almost 10 years of computer science teaching expertise. He wrote four books: C Programming, Cyber Security, Big Data Analytics, and Mobile Computing. He has also published several high-quality articles (Q1) in international journals and conferences. His lectures have been given worldwide. Blockchain, AI, Big Data, IoT, Smart City Security, and Cyber-Physical Systems are his research interests. He reviews IEEE Wireless Communication Magazine, IEEE SYSTEMS, IEEE Internet of Things, FGCS, TETT, EXSY, JISA, Computer Network, MDPI, CIE, HCIS, JIPS, Computing (COMP), Multimedia Tools & Applications, and SCIS Journal.

Prof. Dr. Maria-Esther Vidal

Brief Bio: Prof. Dr. Maria-Esther Vidal is the head of the Scientific Data Management Research Group at TIB and a member of the L3S Research Centre at the University of Hannover; she is also a full professor (on-leave) at Universidad Simón Bolívar (USB) Venezuela. Her interests include Big data and knowledge management, knowledge representation, and semantic web.  She has published more than 170 peer-reviewed papers in Semantic Web, Databases, Bioinformatics, and Artificial Intelligence. She has co-authored one monograph, and co-edited books and journal special issues. She is part of various editorial boards (e.g., JWS, JDIQ), and has been the general chair, co-chair, senior member, and reviewer of several scientific events and journals (e.g., ESWC, AAAI, AMW, WWW, KDE). She is leading data management tasks in the EU H2020 projects iASiS, BigMedylitics, and QualiChain, and has participated in BigDataEurope, BigDataOcean; she is a supervisor of MSCA-ETN projects WDAqua and NoBIAS. She has been a visiting professor in different universities (e.g., Uni Maryland, UPM Madrid, UPC, KIT Karlsruhe, Uni Nantes). In the past, she has participated in international projects (e.g., FP7, NSF, AECI), and led industrial data integration projects for more than 10 years
